Halfway through college I had a crisis and dropped out of school for a year while I went through counseling and sought healing. That year was full of darkness and depression, but my faith kept me alive, kept me going. I anchored myself in the Word, where I was reassured of God’s promises to me. I worshiped with others on Sundays and Wednesdays. These songs -based on Scripture- reminded me of God’s love for me. He carried me through that year. I came out of the valley with a deeper faith and a newfound resolution to share Christ’s hope with those that don’t know him yet.
At about that time I had completed six years of intense formal Spanish study, with tutors and immersion experiences. I could now read my Bible in a second language and took pride in the fact that I read it exclusively in Spanish for the better part of a year. But then I realized that even though I was understanding what I read, it was just head knowledge. It wasn’t impacting my heart, and it wasn’t changing my life. Rereading the same passages in English -my heart language- took the message from my head to my heart, where it impacted and transformed me.
Later I learned that there are over 7,000 languages in the world, and over 1.5 billion people for whom no complete Bible translation exists. Remembering how my Spanish Bible rarely ever impacted me, I thought about the countless young children who have to drop out of school in the second grade to help the family farm. And them? How will they come to know Jesus? Everyone needs to know this Man!
I began talking with Wycliffe Bible Translators, as their mission is to translate God’s Word so that everyone can hear or read it in a language that speaks to their hearts. I decided to join. Through the generosity of many, God provided for me to get a Master’s in Applied Linguistics and Exegesis, graduating in 2016.
Then he provided a Quechua family that adopted me as one of their own in 2017.
God then provided the ministry team and funding I needed to start my Wycliffe Ministry in Peru.
In 2018 I moved to Peru and started language and culture learning.
In 2019 I met Patty, the love of my life. We got married in 2021. You can read our love story here. It is also a testimony to God’s faithfulness in the midst of trials.

I have one brother who is a gifted musician, currently living on the East Coast.
My hobbies include hiking, biking, tech, photography, arts, and Quechua language learning.
